In the seemingly idyllic town of Crystal Falls, silence screams louder than any threat. For Ivy, it began with a note: “7 days.” Then came the calls, the whispers, and the feeling of being watched. Now, trapped in her own home, Ivy faces a stalker whose motives are as chilling as the countdown to her final hour. Part one of The Watcher of Crystal Falls introduces a town where darkness lurks beneath the surface of small-town charm.

Excerpt:

But six days ago, that familiar ring had taken on a sinister new tone. The first call cut through the quiet of her living room like a scream in the night, its shrill jangle so piercing Ivy felt it could be heard on the other side of town. A heavy silence followed, broken only by a distinct breathing on the other end – close to the receiver, almost excited, a throaty rasp that sent a shiver of unease down her spine. Then, a faint whisper, undeniably her name.

Ivy…”, before the silence returned, the caller seemingly content just to listen.

“Yes? Can I help you,” Ivy said tentatively.

The second call came barely ten minutes later, identical in its disturbing nature. After that, the phone continued its relentless assault, ringing five more times before the first hint of dawn. Ivy, heart pounding, refused to answer. Just a wrong number, she told herself firmly before finally retreating to bed, the unsettling shrieks of the phone echoing in her mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Intro to Morrigan King

I gotta tell ya, this story threw me for a loop. I don’t know what I was expecting, but having chills from a story of 3o someodd pages was not on my bingo card. This first in a series, written by Morrigan King, is a thrilling, frightening tale of Ivy, who lives in her quaint, quiet little town of Crystal Falls. She runs the diner that her parents ran for years, and knows everyone that comes in, and they all know her. Life is great in Crystal Falls.
Until it isn’t.

Until Ivy starts getting very strange phone calls at night, creepy, unsettling phone calls.
And the note. Every day, for seven straight, she finds a note in her house with only a number. #1 on the first day, 2 on the second, and so on. And the terror begins.

And then we meet Denise.

Ms. King has done a fantastic job of packing a ton of intensity in such a small package. But brilliantly, she leaves the reader wanting more. And she delivers. I hear the series will be eight stories and I, for one, will be waiting to read all eight. – Jim Donohue

Wow this book was short but very intense !

Normally the number 7 may be associated with luck and is often the preferred number of people.

Well in this case it’s the opposite !! – Rose

Seven days. The clock is ticking. Will Ivy make it or not? That’s the question.
